Energy Performance Certificates produced by a Domestic Energy Assessor provide an energy efficiency rating for properties that allow buyers to easily compare properties from a green perspective. These rating certificates are familiar to consumers as they have been used on household appliances for many years. The ratings go from A-G with A being the most efficient with the lowest energy bills. There is also an environmental impact assessments, again on an A-G scale with A being best, which gives an indication of the impact through CO2 emissions. In addition to the ratings, the Energy Performance Certificate provides recommendations for improving energy efficiency and to reduce fuel bills. The recommendations provided by the Domestic Energy Assessor are based on the results of the inspection and will cover areas such as loft insulation, energy saving bulbs, type or boiler and glazing.
